iFlautisti

iFlautisti displays four vibrant young recorderists in a truly dynamic ensemble, challenging any preconceptions of recorder-playing by delivering inspirational repertoire with absolute imagination and creativity.
The quartet formed in early 2008 having met whilst studying at the Royal College of Music and have since found their unique yet collaborative voice through presenting well-crafted and engaging programmes. The members of iFlautisti – Danielle Jalowiecka, Kerstin Picker, Jitka Smutná and Ilona Veselovská – flourish in a concert environment, with recitals to date including the Artists’ Series at The National Gallery, appearances at the Wiltshire Music Centre, Royal College of Music, Royal Academy of Music, and most notably in a Buddhist Temple!

They encourage the performances of the hugely diverse repertoire for recorder quartet in these settings as i Flautisti have a real intention to perform beautiful and historically-informed works as much as to play popular Vivaldi concerti and thrilling contemporary compositions.
As selected artists on the 2008 Brighton Early Music Festival Early Music Live! scheme, i Flautisti’s involvement was so successful that they were invited to take part as Young Artists in the main 2009 Brighton Early Music Festival. This was preceded by a live performance and interview on BBC Radio 3’s ‘In Tune’ programme with Petroc Trelawney in October. The quartet have a commission in progress by Dutch composer, Chiel Meijering, and collaborations with Finnish composer, Tomi Räisänen and Czech composer, Jan Rokyta. The group will also be performing as Young Artists at the Newbury Spring Festival, Bury St. Edmund’s Festival and as part of the London New Wind Festival 2010.
