Ondřej Lébr (*22. 7. 1974) Ondřej Lébr started playing the violin at the age of three being tutored by his mother Magdalena Micková. Having graduated from the Prague Conservatory, he was admitted to the Faculty of Music at the Academy of Performing Arts to the class of Petr Messiereur. Thanks to the significant scholarship of Dagmar and Václav Havel Foundation VIZE 97, he could continue his postgraduate studies and prestigious master studies at Hochschule fur Music Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden in Ivan Ženatý’s class in 2000 – 2005. He actively participated in master courses at Frank Gulli and Zakhar Bron, with whom he studied thanks to winning a scholarship competition. During his studies, Ondřej Lébr recorded several CDs with violin concertos of contemporary American authors for recording companies in the USA. He performs in the Czech Republic and abroad; he has cooperated with Czech chamber and symphonic orchestras, with renowned artists (Josef Suk, Jana Boušková, Václav Hudeček); he also participated in a chamber cycle of the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra. He has been making recordings for the Czech Radio and Czech Television. In 2008, a unique scorebook was published in his revision and interpretation “J.F. Mazas - Études spéciales op.36/1 with the second violin part composed by Josef Micka.“ This edition includes score, parts and complete recordings of all thirty etudes on two CDs. The project was realized under the auspices of the world-famous Czech virtuoso Josef Suk and he also participates on the recording, which was made in September 2007. Since 2005, Ondřej Lébr has been the patron of the associations “Centre for everybody” (“Centrum pro všechny“) and Harbour („Přístav“), which provide assistance to physically and mentally handicapped children. Ondřej Lébr plays a unique instrument made by Italian violin-maker Giacomo Saltenari in 1880. |
